It's not easy to change.

That was the central theme behind Girls Season 2 Episode 9.

We spent some time during the half hour with Adam and Natalia, as the former was shocked to be with a girlfriend who was actually clear and open about herself.

Of course, then he went ahead and ruined in by getting rather dirty in the bedroom.

Elsewhere, Marnie pursued a career in singing… by embarrassing herself at her ex-boyfriend's office party, while Shosh dared to hold a doorman's hand. Crazy, right?!?

Self-destructive behavior abounded throughout. Watch the outing now:

Hanna desperately tried to complete her book deal on the Girls Season 2 finale, while Ray did all he could to impress Shoshanna.

The installment was very much the inverse of last year's finale, which ended with Adam getting hit by a car. In this case, a vehicle narrowly missed nailing him.

Similarly, Shoshanna was all about Ray to close out Season 1, having sex for the first time with her boyfriend. Now? She's throwing him out of her aparement.

Marnie and Charlie back then? Broken up. On Girls Season 2 Episode 10? Having sex in his apartment and planning a future.

Were these changes for the better? Watch the finale in fill and decide for yourself:

Naturally Adorable Cat Parodies Hannah, Girls

With just a few days to go until the Girls Season 3 premiere, YouTube channel The Pet Collective (the geniuses behind "Puppy Can't Get Out of Bowl") has released a parody of Lena Dunham's HBO hit.

It is simply titled "Cats." And it begins with the following voiceover, via a feline version of Hannah Horvath:

"You are a cat, therefore, you are just naturally adorable. All I am is asking for is more milk to be fed at 5 am daily and a cat tower with a view of chirping birds."

It's great stuff. Prepare for the January 12 by checking out the video now and watch Girls online at TV Fanatic if you need to catch up:

Girls: Renewed for Season 4!

HBO made an early, albeit not wholly unexpected announcement today at the Television Critics Association Press Tour:

Girls has been renewed for a fourth season. It will shoot this spring and air in early 2015.

The comedy will premiere its third season this Sunday with an episode that explores Jessa's sexuality, teased the panel of cast members and producers.

Hannah on Girls

A reporter also asked star Lena Dunham the tired question of why the series features so much nudity, with the actress replying "i’s a realistic expression of what it’s like to be alive" and Executive Producer Jenni Konner saying the inquiry threw her into a “rage spiral.”

As for whether or not Hannah and the ladies are likable, Dunham offered up a great response to critics:

“You seem to like Walter White.”

Lena Dunham, Producers Explode Over Questions of Nudity

HBO announced a fourth season renewal of Girls yesterday.

Cause for celebration, right? Definitely.

But the enjoyment was short-lived for Lena Dunham and producers Judd Apator and Jenni Konner, who were featured on the show's panel at the Television Critics Association Press Tour and who took exception to the very first question asked.

Lena Dunham at the TCAs

“I don’t get the purpose of all the nudity on the show by you particularly," a reporter asked. "I feel like I’m walking into a trap where you go, 'Nobody complains about the nudity on 'Game of Thrones,' but I get why they’re doing it. They are doing it to be salacious and, you know, to titillate people. And your character is often naked just at random times for no reason.”

Dunham, irritated, tried to mostly blow off the question and responded vaguely with:

"It’s a realistic expression of what it’s like to be alive... If you’re not into me, that’s your problem, and you're going to have to kind of work that out with whatever professionals you've hired."

But Apatow and Kenner were fired up.

"Do you have a girlfriend?" Apatow asked the reporter, following up by encouraging him to quote that question directly to her and gauge her reply.

Konner thought maybe the girlfriend was a "misogynist" and later apologized to a different reporter because the first question was still in her head.

"I literally was spacing out because I’m in such a rage spiral about that guy that I literally could not hear," the producer said. "I'm so sorry. I really don't mean to disrespect you. I was just looking at him and going into this rage - this idea that he would talk to a woman like that and accuse a woman of showing her body too much.

"The idea, it just makes me sort of sick. And I just want to apologize to everyone. I'm going to try to focus now, but if I space out, it will be because of that guy."

Damn. This could make for its own episode somehow - and certainly makes for good PR for the show, even if Dunham and company wished it never happened.

What do you make of the reporter's question and the subsequent responses?

On Girls Season 3 Episode 1 tonight, Hanna, Marnie, Shoshannah and Adam will all gather around to eat tacos.

And Shoshanna will talk about how it's a "sexually adventurous time for her," a plan that Hannah supports and one that Marnie says is smart because the goal should be to avoid love and feelings and anything related to matters of the heart.

Is that really a good idea? Not according to Adam.

Girls Review: Don't Call It A Comeback

After a rocky sophomore season, Girls picked back up with two episodes full of outrageousness mixed in with modern day reality.

Girls Season 3 Episode 1 brought us up to speed with all the ladies. When we left Hannah in Girls Season 2 episode 10, she was having a complete mental break and Adam ended up saving the day.

So where are they now?

Leaning on Adam

Adam and Hannah are actually in a great, if not slightly co-dependent, place. But hey, if it works for them...

Hannah is on medication to treat her OCD and is back on track with her editor, who she was too embarrassed to tell about her mental issues, but fine with discussing the time she jerked a kidney stone out of a Puerto Rican Jew. And... the girl we know and love is back.

Marnie is mourning her break-up with Charlie, although in reality the actor who played Charlie decided to leave the show due to creative differences with Lena Dunham. Marnie is now living on her mother's couch with Rainbow Brite sheets, listening to lectures from the fantastic Rita Wilson.

I have to say, the guest stars in the season premiere really brought their A-game. To say Shiri Appleby and her friend's confrontation of Adam at Grumpy's was amazing would quite frankly be an understatement. I was equal parts hysterical and horrified.

You should just enjoy your urine soaked life, fucking like the two feral animals that you both are. You’re gonna end up with a baby that you don’t know how to care for.

Natalia

Shoshanna is off living the life that most college students live: balancing partying, hooking up and academics. She's definitely in an experimental stage and despite her hungover trips to the library, she seems like a lighter, happier Shoshanna.

Jessa, oh Jessa, we haven't seen her since Girls Season 2 Episode 7 when she abandoned Hannah at her father's house upstate and took off for parts unknown. While part of me expected us to find Jessa on some exotic vacation being spontaneous and marrying someone new, I wasn't all that surprised to find her slummed out in rehab. The last thing I expected, however, was to find her between that girl's legs.

The premiere episode flowed perfectly into Girls Season 3 Episode 2 as Hannah, Shoshanna and a pissed off Adam, road-tripped to bail Jessa out of rehab. Shoshanna has probably never been as funny as she is this season.

My friend Rachel is fully addicted to blueberry redbull and she always tells me she hasn’t had one and she tells like with a blue tongue.

Shoshanna

I love the straight up honesty that is flowing between the characters this year. I'm glad Hannah told Jessa she's a liar and a bad friend. I'm glad Marnie could admit she had no interest in going to pick up Jessa, but just didn't want to be left out. Shoshanna has no filter to her thoughts and it has fleshed out her character from an uptight jappy student who occasionally contributed funny moments.

Adam has peaked from weirdo that Hannah kind of begs for sex to full out supportive boyfriend. He is feeding Hannah her damn meds everyday. He hosts a dinner party with people he never wants to see, but somehow manages to be the one person who gives Marnie meaningful advice during her time of heartbreak.

As Shoshanna puts it, he is dementedly helpful.

So what do you think of Girls Season 3 so far? Is it redeeming some of the lackluster drama from Girls season 2?

We were quickly brought up to speed on all the young ladies on Girls Season 3 Episode 1.

Hannah and Adam are actually in a great place, with the former on medicate to treat her OCD and also too embarrassed to tell her editor about her mental problems.

Marnie is mourning her split from Charlie, while Shoshanna is sort of living the dream. She's hooking up. She's partying. She's studying. She's definitely in a better place than Jessa, who finds herself in rehab.

Shiri Appleby, meanwhile, was terrific as a guest star again, as her character and her character's confrontation with Adam at Grumpy's was simply awesome.

Girls returned to HBO this week with back-to-back episodes.

And while Girls Season 3 Episode 1 caught us up on where the ladies are, the follow-up installment featured Hannah taking a road trip.

Shoshanna and a pissed off Adam accompanied her to bail out Jessa from rehab, with Hannah confronting her pal about being a terrible friend.

Marnie, of course, had no interest in going but didn't want to be left out. We were therefore left with an awkward, honest, hilarious adventure.

All hail the birthday bitch!

If you know Hannah Horvath, you know she's the kind of girl who inadvertently wants a big deal made out of her birthday even though she claims it sucks every year.

Girls Season 3 Episode 3 had us celebrating in style with a party thrown by Marnie and Hannah's parents.

Gaby Hoffman on Girls

I mean, thank goodness Marnie found something to do besides scream at people to take down a YouTube video that she was totally complicit in making with Charlie. You know Marnie was down when Charlie filmed it. We're talking about the same girl who rapped a mortifying rendition of Kanye in Girls Season 2 Episode 9.

The thing about Girls that makes the show what it is, is that these characters are all a bit self-absorbed. They are early 20-somethings in a generation often referred to as Generation Me, so this isn't shocking news. It's how each girl relays that selfishness and relates to each other that makes the show entertaining.

Take Hannah for instance, who tells Adam not to worry about Caroline because she's great at reading people and Caroline seems harmless. This is Adam's SISTER! Of course he knows how much trouble she is.

And trouble she was, between biting Ray on the dance floor, showing up with the mysterious bruises and that last glass shattering scene with what I'm going to assume was a merkin. (Regardless of your personal grooming preferences that was...extra voluminous)

Gaby Hoffman did an amazing job portraying Adam's messed up sibling. I think now we can see where Adam's rescuing, caregiver side comes from. When people were shocked the way he ran to Hannah in the Girls Season 2 finale, I suppose his interaction with his sister would serve as a great explanation of where that side of him comes from.

He's clearly been taking care of her for years.

Oh and you guys remember Adam from my period of mental illness.

Hannah [to her parents]

Elsewhere, Shoshanna continued to progress into self-serving college student with absolutely no verbal filter. As funny as I might find her this season, others have argued that she's turning into kind of a crappy person. I know that Ray would have to agree. We all know his meltdown wasn't just because a great Smashing Pumpkins song was turned off.

My favorite moment was Marnie forcing Hannah into the Rent duet. First of all, it was so typical of Marnie to make Hannah do something after she explicitly said she didn't want to. But truly, I'm only a few years older than these girls and I feel like the majority of my female peers were obsessed with the Rent soundtrack in middle school and could singing along to every line of that scene.

What did you think of Hannah's birthday party? Is Hannah and Adam's love nest going to get turned upside down by his sister's presence?

Girls Review: Comfortably Numb

Everyone grieves in his or her own way.

On Girls Season 3 Episode 4, Hannah loses someone in her life and everyone around her is surprised at her reaction.

Faced With Tragedy

David was found dead. Just to refresh everyone's memory, David was Hannah's book editor who we just saw on Girls Season 3 Episode 3 coked out, dancing to LMFAO, punching Ray and cruising Grindr.

The whole scene when Hannah first arrived at their meeting and everyone was running around like mad was a little nuts. I'll admit that I'm a semi-neurotic anxious New Yorker, but I was so on the same page as Hannah when she asked if it was safe to be in the office at that time.

So how did David die? Well he was found face down in the Hudson River, according to Gawker. No one is confirming that drugs were involved, but there's speculation amongst the media world. Adam is angry that Hannah is feeding into the vultures at sites like Gawker, but Hannah is quick to defend her people.

Sometimes I forget how fundamentally different Adam and Hannah are. This episode was a perfect example of those differences. Adam can't believe that Hannah isn't grieving David more and that she is more worried about what will happen to her book than the loss of her friend.

Hannah's conversation with Caroline was actually rather insightful.

Caroline: You know medication did make me feel less.
Hannah: It did?
Carolina: Yeah.
Hannah: See that’s really not good for a writer.
Caroline: Yeah but it’s really good for a person. It’s too exhausting feeling all that. I mean God, I would d wake up happy, eat breakfast despondent, wonder about eternity on the walk to work, then feel comfortably numb for hours. It was just too much the rollercoaster of it all. I wanted to die.

Hannah's emotions probably are numbed with her medication. By the way, I can't believe Hannah would use Caroline's fake story to make herself seem more sympathetic to Adam. If anyone's heard one of Caroline's BS stories, it's probably Adam!

One person who is definitely not averse to discussing death is Jessa. She got so caught up in her own head and thinking about her friend Season that she completely disregarded Shosh's story. Then again, it's not all that hard to tune out someone who talks about the importance of her bandana collection.

Shock of shocks, it turns out that Season faked her own death! She was a drug addict who thought Jessa was a bad influence and so she faked her own funeral, knowing that Jessa would never show up. Now she's married, has a baby and lives in a brownstone. So what does that say about Jessa?

Elsewhere, Marnie was busy continuing on her post breakup meltdown path. She found Ray and the Grumpy's owner watching her video and quit on the spot, saying she would go work with "fancy people." Do you feel bad for Marnie on Girls Season 3? I would just like to see more from her.

The week was kind of slow, but it definitely posed an interesting question about how people react to death. How would you grade Hannah's reaction to David's death?

Girls Review: Memoirs of a Hannah

$

There is a reason that this episode is titled "Only Child." It was a way to demonstrate how the spotlight is always on Hannah and truthfully that's how she prefers it!

In Girls Season 3 Episode 5 Hannah seemed semi-sympathetic when she and Adam attended David's funeral, only to turn it around and be typical selfish Hannah.

The End of Her Book

Guest star Jennifer Westfeldt took an entertaining turn as David's wife...yes, his wife. She claims that he was "sometimes gay" and considering he was cruising Grindr at Hannah's birthday party, I'm gonna venture to say that he had a preference for men.

Adam: I thought you said he was gay.
Hannah: Well I don't know now. He had gay apps on his iPhone and liked to show his ankles but what does that even mean in this day and age?

I mean, it was one thing for Hannah to be celeb spotting and obsessing over meeting people at the funeral, that was a typical level of selfishness for her. But to ask his grieving (and in denial) wife about helping her find another publisher was too much. It was a perfect, but not even strong enough, reality check for Westfeldt to agree to help her only if she "got the F out."

Then during Adam and Caroline's fight, she started off their therapy session by asking them both to tell her they loved her. What was up with that? It was weird but also so normal. At the end of the episode when her father called to tell her about the 3-year contract hold up, she didn't even ask him about his procedure; just totally cut him off and then insulted him and her uncle.

The theme of being self-centered is definitely not Hannah only. It's one of the running themes of the show and the generation that it targets. Take Marnie for example. She thinks she is so much better than Ray, yet she still went there to ask him for a favor. After getting what she wanted, and a little extra, she was back to the old Marnie.

Ray: Maybe for the time being it would be best to keep this on the DL.
Marnie: Go fuck yourself, like I'd advertise this.

Let's also note that Marnie just slept with her friend's ex boyfriend, a huge no no in girl world. However, she did it because Ray was comforting her and it made her feel better about herself. Screw Shosh's feelings, Marnie needed to feel good!

Shoshanna and Jessa were underused but entertaining for their brief two minutes of screen time. I love the way these cousins interact and basically insult each other to their faces and continue on having a conversation. Also Jessa's comment about smoking a Stephen Dorff space cigarette cracked me up. As did Shoshanna screaming "you have a criminal record" as Jessa attempted to apply for work at a children's boutique.

The best part about all of this immaturity and selfish behavior is that the girls barely even realize it most of the time, if ever. Hannah kicked out her boyfriend's unstable sister under the guise that she thought it was what she wanted, but really she couldn't stand Caroline's insane stories anymore during her time of stress. It's too bad, Gaby Hoffman brought a definitive quirkiness with a strong personality to the show.

Girls Review: Growns Ups

$

The young women of Girls struggled with the idea of making some adult changes on Girls Season 3 Episode 6.

Could Hannah ever go corporate? It's kind of hard to picture. Yet it's a possibility.

Hannah's Cubicle

Now that Hannah's book is delayed indefinitely after the contract mess in Girls Season 3 Episode 5, she needs to try and getting her writing out where she can. Even if it means selling out a bit doing advertoiral work. Still, GQ is GQ!

Ray is doubtful, but Ray is also pessimistic and has a hard view of the world in general. But we'll get to that in a minute.

Hannah had a fabulous first day at GQ, making a few friends, pitching awesome ideas and even getting accolades from her icy boss, an awesome cameo by Jenna Lyons. There's even a free snack room. Hannah Horvath + Free Snacks = Bliss.

Adam is a little down on the whole corporate gig and thinks the free snacks are all full of chemicals. Hannah approaches her second day with the positivity and self aggrandizing nature she can sometimes emit.

However, after a talk with her coworkers about how she wouldn't be there forever because she was a "real writer" she soon finds out that they were all once versions of her. But sometimes that corporate world with health insurance, dental, stability, gym membership is just too damn tempting.

I think this episode did an excellent job really grasping what the show Girls is about. These four girls in their early 20s are struggling with making more adult choices while still holding onto all the confusing but sometimes enjoyable aspects of their youth. That's why it's called "Girls" not "Women." They are still children in many ways.

This episode was a perfect summary of that.

Whether it was Hannah breaking down and crying at work after realizing how tempted she was to sell out of that creative, carefree, risk taking writer lifestyle; or Marnie attempting to date Ray, everyone was trying something new. Well... everyone but Jessa, who could really give a crap. Her only purpose in this episode was to listen to Shoshanna and make a few hilarious remarks.

Oh that's amazing. It's really hard for a jew to gain respect in sports.

Jessa

Shoshanna really thinks that it's time to stop sowing her oats but she knows she can't go back to Ray, she hurt him too much. She also doesn't know that Ray is now sleeping with Marnie in some weird twisted attempt at a relationship.

Those two can't stand each other, could it ever even work? What will happen when Shosh finds out?

This episode left us with so many questions. Is this the girls way of trying to be grown ups? Could Hannah make it in corporate America? Would Shoshanna and Parker ever work out or is he just that dumb? I happen to be the most curious about Marnie and Ray. Those two are the odd couple.

Girls Review: A Mean, Skinny Miss Hannigan

Okay... Girls Season 3 Episode 7 was hands down the best episode of 2014. Elijah was back and all the girls were together.

There was music, choreographed dancing, drinking, fighting and Marnie being a Type A lunatic. What's not to love?

Shosh and Jessa at the beach

I'm not really sure how Marnie is dealing with living in an apartment the size of a bed - because after just one scene of her channeling her inner Martha Stewart at that gorgeous beach home, you just knew she was just dying to be somebody's housewife.

We all know she's been messed up this season. but once Marnie told the whole story about Charlie to Elijah...holy shit. Like, how does that even go down?

One minute he said he wanted to propose and the next he said he never loved her? Wow, just wow. And then Elijah says he always thought Charlie was gay, but Elijah thinks everyone's gay. He thought Hannah's Dad was gay in Girls season 1.

Can I just say how great it was to have Elijah back? Even if he entered the scene by comparing Hannah's bathing suit and no shoes in public to Spring Breakers?

It was very necessary for him to make up with Hannah considering he is one of the best characters on Girls. Also, his impression of Marnie was pretty dead on.

She's just like walking around, bossing everyone around, like a mean skinny Miss Hannigan.

Elijah [about Marnie]

Marnie was so ridiculously Type A all weekend, trying to control every situation. I know she had this whole idea of "healing" together, but girls in their 20s are just not that organized. Sorry, we aren't trying to adhere to a vacation schedule.

Nobody wants to hang out with the person who is insistent on having everything be "a plan."

When Marnie was in the water saying she was having the best time of her life, she said it with so much deadness and phoniness in her voice I think my eyes rolled back into my head. Also you shouldn't base your life around how it will look on Instagram.

Leave that to the #RichKids of Beverly Hills

Guys we're so disconnected. I thought this would just be a nice opportunity for us to have fun together and prove to everyone via Instagram that we could still have fun as a group.

Marnie

Marnie, I know you're having a hard time but that was a pathetic, yet sadly hilarious comment. Also, it was a close call when she mentioned Ray, but luckily Shoshanna never picked up on it or she would've gone even crazier than she did.

I think that was the best scene Shoshanna has ever had including the time she accidentally smoked crack in Girls Season 1 Episode 7.

I noticed this episode was partially written by Judd Apatow and it did have that kind of signature he has in his movies of creating huge blow up fights.

That scene in the kitchen was pretty unreal. It spoke a lot about each of the girls and each of their issues. Well... everyone except for Jessa really, who is personally my favorite character and the person I'd most want to hang out with out of the four.

The ending of the episode was pretty poignant.

Girls have this way of fighting and then not speaking about it the next day but cohesively deciding to move on together in an unspoken agreement. The way they all walked in and just started cleaning was pretty much the only way it could've gone down.

What did you think of their big overdue blowout?

They may appear on some of our favorite shows, and they may even have their shining moments.

Overall, though, they sort of make us want to throw our television sets out the window.

It's rarely the faults of the actors or actresses behind these characters, it's just that they don't belong on the show in the first place. Or they're worn out their welcome. Or they just... won't... stop.... whining.

These irritating individuals are lawyers, witches and super agents; they are young and they are old. But they have one thing in common:

They are super annoying! Flip through the following photo gallery and decide if you agree with us and/or who you would add to this list from across the TV dial:

Now he's this full-fledged character who I feel like we peel another layer off of every week. He's a deep guy and what's more is that he and Hannah are a happy and functional couple.

Hannah with a steady boyfriend and steady paycheck? What show am I watching?!? Alas, it's true and not only that, but this gig at GQ is pretty cushy. She's interviewing Broadway legends and checking into awesome hotels with her friends for research. Where do I sign up?

This is how much money I make a week? This is a lot more than my rent. This is insane, I'm just gonna like walk into a store in the Meatpacking district and make it rain!

Hannah

I like that the show has created more opportunities lately for the four girls to be together. People forget that this group is really not a cohesive unit at all. Just another reason why all the comparisons to Sex and the City are so misguided; the friendship on Girls is lacking the closeness the SATC gals had.

I was a little surprised that Marnie didn't tell Hannah about Ray. I guess I'm really waiting for Marnie to lose it even more so than she already has. Also, I don't think Ray was breaking up with her. I totally think Ray would've dated Marnie.

He was just saying he wanted more. Marnie didn't realize that he meant maybe more with her. At least that's how I saw it.

LOVED that Jessa's rehab friend thought Shoshanna was on cocaine. Was cracking up when she said she totally wasn't but got that all the time. I wish I had the quote but Shoshanna doesn't really speak coherent English so...yeah.

What was the point of seeing Jessa slip up? Was it to show us how bored and unstable she is? We already know. I want to see something more interesting out of Jessa because I really like her.

Also I am obsessed with the show One Tree Hill and unlike Elijah have no problem admitting it. Truly cannot recall ever seeing that guy before so I'm pretty sure that was just a joke. I do really love having Elijah back, though. He brings more humor to the scenes.

So what do you think of all the advice Hannah was getting? Is Adam going to be mean to her and leave her behind now that he got a role on Broadway?

I doubt it but cast your vote below and sound off in the comments!

You'll recognize their faces. You might even wonder why they're on this list. After all, a lot of them are the reason you watch your favorite shows in the first place.

But you know why? Because they're scene stealers!

They might have just signed on for one or two episodes (we're looking at you, Emily Bett Rickards) but their screen presence was so powerful their characters became a reason to watch. Who can imagine Arrow without Felicity Smoak?!?

What would The Walking Dead be without Daryl, who wasn't even in the comics on which the show was based? The character was created specifically for Norman Reedus after he auditioned for Merle! Precious Norman as crusty Merles? No way. He stole our hearts as Daryl.

Get out the handcuffs and find out who else should be taken to task for Hollywood robbery. Agree? Disagree? Hit the comments with your favorite scene thieves.

When J.T. isn't in an episode, the show isn't as fun. He brings levity and comic relief to every situation. The light shines on his lines.

Silas Weir Mitchell as Monroe on Grimm

12. Silas Weir Mitchell as Monroe on Grimm

Monroe has all of the personality on Grimm. He has the humor and the successful romance. He's more of a lead than Nick, but he's living on the wrong side of the fence. We don't care. He still steals every scene.
